ABOUT glenda

I currently divide my time between painting and writing. I was an instructor in the Creative Writing Department at Douglas College for 30 years. Writing engages my creative and analytical mind, while painting leans on intuition and the senses. As an artist, I play with imagery the way poets play with words. My mixed media paintings are primarily abstract, incorporating landscape and figurative elements. I use acrylics, ink, pastels, Japanese rice papers, charcoal, leaves and petals, juxtaposing materials and ideas. My work is textured and dramatic, mythical and symbolic. My paintings have been exhibited across North America. My published work as an author includes: plays, children’s books, film, scripts, and fiction, and the award-winning novel Heartache and Other Natural Shocks. Making art is a playful and passionate leap of faith. Looking at art should be like having a great conversation. The goal is always: to connect.
