Jodie’s paintings seem to express the inner life of the elements, it’s a dance within her. Painting has seriously, finally taken the front seat in her busy life and nothing is stopping her. As the years roll by she just keeps digging deeper and discovering more.

Honouring the land, all as a totem to the earth and sky, Jodie infuses each element with a similar swirl and flow. A tree relates to the water, the water speaks to the sky, the sky reflects the conversation.

Her playful sense of whimsy invites us to both to play on the surface or dive deeper into her interpretation of the land. The eye can wander in and around these paintings, stopping here and there to notice some interesting detail. It’s all there, just like a walk in the woods or along the shore line, from walking at a brisk pace to stopping to examine a wondrous detail.

This image is intriguing in that it’s all so colorful and lively up front, balancing between abstraction and realism. But then there is that dark realistic island in the back ground I can’t help but notice. It’s holding witness and accountability to the whimsy. It seems to be so quiet and powerful and it anchors all the musical play. It’s all the silence on the canvas that allows the rest be free and let go into the joy.
And can you find the bird hidden in plain sight?

There is always something to see. Her careful, insightful attention to the overall composition and fine skill with acrylics assure these possibilities. One can find their eyes swirling through the landscapes with her.

Jodie has embraced her own style and is clearly flying with it. Her images are clear and honest and can only grow.
