ABOUT Kaela

I am a Chinese Canadian artist living in Richmond, BC with a practice that consists of vibrant, colourful illustrative drawings, paintings, and sculptural works. I use surreal imagery that is inspired by my childhood, and combines my interests in cute, playful, and sometimes macabre subject matters. My main goal is to create new environments that warps, but also speaks to my reality and experiences. I graduated in May 2024 from Emily Carr University of Art and Design with a bachelor's in Visual Arts. Currently I am part of a studio collective in East Vancouver called 626 Creative Labs.
