Can you capture the light, the movement, or the emotion? The mountains, water, nature, and children exploring their environment inspire me. I want to express the emotions that are evoked when you are one with the natural surroundings. My paintings are created with this in mind. I create a painting that uses texture, shape, and colour to create a setting and mood that engages and inspires the viewer. I am a west coast artist who grew up in the Okanagan and the south coast of BC. The landscapes of those areas have influenced my art. I am drawn to the outdoors having hiked and skied in the local mountains. A retired educator, painting has become a passion for expressing my love of the outdoors. I am also inspired by children and their activities as they explore the world around them. Through the last few years with Mastrius I have been inspired by fellow artists and mentors who challenge me to keep painting and growing whether in the studio or plein air. The best part is sharing my joy and vision of art with others. `
