ABOUT Olga
Olga discovered clay in 1975 and soon after she realized that clay would be her artistic passion. She finds working with clay meditative and fulfilling. She gets inspired on her excursions into the outdoors where she connects with nature.
Olga is a self-taught potter and also a water colourist, but clay is her main medium. High fired functional pottery and sculptures in soda kiln is her main focus. One of the techniques she enjoys is hand building and throwing pots for burnishing and sawdust firing.
There is a deep quality and meaning of her pots. Working with clay makes Olga feel grounded and connected to the Earth. Every vessel undergoes a long process of creation, which includes the four elements in nature: Earth, Water, Air and Fire. Through the process of transforming raw organic material into a fine art object, every piece gains its own story, meaning and purpose. It is the magic of this transformation that she wishes to share with others.
