ABOUT peggie

I paint both to fulfil a personal need through the process and to bring joy to others through the actual painting. Painting allows me to be outside my world for a time and be in the world of my subject. Painting fills me with a sense of awe and gratitude… that I am in the right place doing the right thing, for my soul and my being. My travels play a lot into what I am painting and I am constantly overwhelmed by the beauty of nature! Shapes, light, and colour patterns speak to me. I am always looking to be moved in some way and hope to bring that to the canvas and give the viewer a similar feeling of joy, calm or remembrance. My themes change in an effort to learn and grow as an artist. My most recent learning came from my project “100 Shoes for Mental Health” which focused me on the art of still life. Walking in the shoes of others was the metaphor for this project and I was also very happy to give a portion of all shoe painting sales to Canadian Mental Health of BC.
